| Here you have it- a xanga version of a christmas newsletter. Skim through it, enjoy it, know in a condensed version what is going on and how things are working out in good ol Lawrence.
Well I am back in the swing of things at KU.
I'm taking relief printmaking and art history 1945-present. I feel like I've practically been living in the studio lately working on my first project because I made it a little more difficult by adding additional linoleum plates (images) to my project. But it has payed off and I finally finished them last night- wahooo. I'm already working on my woodblock and will finish it before next Tuesday. I feel like my art history teacher is very clear in what she is teaching us, which will come in handy for the test coming up. I have lots of friends in this class and we are forming a fun study happening that should be eventful to say the least. I'm also enjoying the articles she assigns- to read the critics of the day and first hand accounts from the artists are captivating for me.
I also got a job at Watson Library up on campus. I like my job and the people I work with. While I'm working I'm ether collecting books in the stacks, scanning articles, or entering in books to be ready for pick-up. I feel like I've learned most of the jobs in my department to be useful, so that's good. Of course there are times we just hang out and that's a good thing to make the time go faster:)
It's nice to see my friends frequently and have set times to hang out every week to partake in important things such as eating and watching The Office and then Grays Anatomy... yep, that's right. Besides having fun in class and up on campus it's been awesome with Cassie and Kathryn and all the other wonderful people in my life right now:)
| Jason and Elyse went for the sonogram today and got a 3-D picture and video of the baby... they also found out all our assumptions were wrong and they are having (drum roll please) a girl! | | |
| In need of great prayer. My mentor and friend, Keri Sperling died from a seizure on Thursday. Almost everyone knows that for six years I have had seizure-like episodes and Keri was one of my biggest supporters because she could relate to me first-hand. She's always had epilepsy and a few months ago she had brain surgery to correct it. This was one of the first seizures she had since the surgery and it was obviously too much. My body wont stop shaking inside and I'm trying not to double over on the floor crying. I just came home to my parents house and feel the reality of the situation slamming into every part of my being. My friendship with Keri was so sweet, she had three young kids that I would help take care of. Also my mom was her friend, helping her with life's challenges and in-turn she was my friend and helped me along the way. It's funny how life is- Cary taught me how to overcome disease... I guess this is the real deal- loving everyone around you until you finally overcome all life's complications to be with the Lord.
The funeral was wonderful- very well done. I also got to see some of my other lady friends from church... I miss my women's Bible study. But you know what, the time has come to get out on my own and establish myself in Lawrence. Kathryn and I are going to find a church out there and I'll find even more women to befriend. Why do I relate so well to older women? I was just at a party with people my own age the other night and when I found out they were all 18-20 year-olds I thought to myself, "Man, they're young." Then I realized I was twenty. ... It's a weird thing
I'm also without a boyfriend for the holidays for the third year in a row- but actually that's a lot better than being with one that's not right for you. So I'm glad it didn't work out with those three guys in those three years... This year it's all about family, maybe more specifically- my brothers. Jason and Elyse are going to get the sonogram this Saturday to find out the sex of the child!!! Elyse is the most beautiful pregnant women- it's true so I just thought I would throw that out there. Also,,,, James and Rebekah are officially engaged!!!! So celebrating is definitely in order
| I will have gone from one side of the United States to the other in one week. From seeing the beaches on the west, the plains in the middle, to the mountains on the east.
I went with my mom to CA to visit her Uncle Henry and help him out. It was wonderful meeting him and spending time in his town right on the beach.
I've been back for a few days
and tomorrow I head out with James and Rebekah to take a road trip to NY!
We are spending a day or two in Chicago, then picking Kirk up in Cleveland on the way to Rebekah's family in Ithaca, NY. This Thanksgiving will be one to remember:)
